Upgrade Support: Including QAD service pack and patch application
Periodically your MFG/Pro distribution will need to be updated, whether it's a scheduled product upgrade or an unexpected patch.
| Major Versions | are used to introduce new functionality or technical and architechtural changes. These new versions may require conversion of production databases and updates to existing customizations. For MFG/Pro QAD's target is to introduce a new Major Version every 18-24 months. |
| Enhancement Releases | may be released to provide enhancments to a major version as well as to distribute all accumulated software corrections. |
| Service Packs | are used to provide regular maintenance updates, software corrections, and minor functionality changes. |
| Individual Patches | may also be obtained as the situation dictates. |
We've been working with Progress since version 5. Since then, we've had lots of experience, at multiple sites, installing, upgrading Major and Minor versions, and applying Service Packs and Patches.
We install and test upgrades & patches seemlessly. For minor upgrades and patches there is often no downtime at all.
Each upgrade is installed in it's own code-space and tested on non-production databases. Existing production code-bases and databases are left untouched in case there is a need to roll back. Our MFG/Pro Installation Methodology and general QAD scripts was adopted by CGI Group as their standard for QAD installations.
