Business-to-Business Introduction

Business-to-Business or B2B is the portion of e-business that deals with the interactions between businesses. These interactions include buying, selling, trading, solicitation, and research. The relationships between these businesses can be that of vendor, supplier, customer, or competitor.

Any business can start "online" with no physical "business" location. As well, an existing physical enterprise can expand onto the Internet to reach a wider range of resources and clients. B2B has a dramatically changed the way businesses can communicate. Electronic information exchange can potentially save time and money. These saving are realized through the reduction in business travel, less time required to obtain data, and faster & more reliable business transactions.

B2B Growth

The value of the B2B market is in the hundreds of billions and is expected to rise near $2 trillion in the next year. This massive growth is due to the perceived advantages and affordable infrastructure.

The top industries using B2B include:

  • Aerospace & Defence
  • Electronics
  • Chemicals
  • Automotive Assembly & Parts
  • Medical Equipment & Transport
